About the Event

Hosted by the Cihannuma Istanbul Forum, FUTURIST’24 Ideathon brings together young innovators aiming to develop creative and practical solutions to critical challenges facing the Islamic world. By presenting your innovative ideas around the outlined problems below—or proposing your own—you can contribute to society meaningfully. Don’t miss the opportunity to transform your ideas into concrete projects through mentorship, teamwork, and final presentations.

Key Dates
  • Application Period: November 25 – December 12, 2024
  • Acceptance Announcements: December 13, 2024
  • Ideathon Date: Saturday, December 14, 2024, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Final Presentations and Award Ceremony: Sunday, December 15, 2024
Who Can Participate?
  • Teams of 3 to 5 members from diverse academic and professional disciplines.
  • Undergraduate, master’s, or PhD students (maximum one PhD participant per team).
  • Teams must apply jointly under a chosen team name.
  1. Relevance to Theme (20%)
    • Does the solution directly address the chosen scenario or topic?
  2. Innovation and Creativity (20%)
    • Is the solution original, leveraging new methods or technologies?
  3. Feasibility and Practicality (20%)
    • Is the solution realistically implementable, considering resources and logistics?
  4. Impact and Sustainability (20%)
    • What is the social, economic, or environmental impact of the solution?
  5. Presentation and Communication (10%)
    • How effectively is the idea communicated with clear and engaging delivery?
  6. Benefit for the Ummah (5%)
    • Does the idea contribute to the well-being and unity of the Muslim community?
  7. Interdisciplinary Approach (5%)
    • Does the proposal integrate insights from multiple fields?
Application Requirements

Prepare a 300-500 word summary addressing your problem analysis and solution proposal. Include full details of all team members in the application.

Awards
  • Winning Team: Open-return tickets from Turkish Airlines (terms to be clarified).
  • Finalist Teams: Special participation awards.

  1. Integration of Orphans Affected by War and Disasters into Society Propose innovative strategies for reintegrating children orphaned by war or natural disasters into education, mental health support, and society.
  2. Secure Digital Parenting Platform Propose a digital security platform that helps parents protect their children from harmful content online and access clean, trustworthy content.
  3. Combating Racism and Nationalism in the Islamic World Suggest practical and actionable steps to address divisions caused by racism and nationalism among Muslims.
  4. Integrating Traditional Markets into the Digital Economy Develop solutions to integrate traditional Islamic market practices into modern digital economies while preserving ethical principles.
  5. Eco-friendly, Sustainable, Inclusive, and Fair Cities Design innovative, eco-friendly urban transport systems for densely populated Islamic cities.
  6. Transforming Refugee Camps into Opportunity Centers Create a model to turn refugee camps into hubs of opportunity based on principles of entrepreneurship, education, and self-sufficiency.
  7. Preservation of Islamic Architectural Heritage Propose community-focused methods to protect and revive Islamic architectural heritage threatened by conflict or neglect.
  8. A Fair and Transparent Endowment (Waqf) System Suggest a system based on blockchain or similar technologies to ensure transparency in managing and distributing waqf resources.
  9. A Fairer and More Participatory Political Governance Model Develop a model for more equitable and participatory political organization at national and international levels.
  10. Strategies for Revitalizing Halal Tourism Propose strategies to promote halal tourism while considering health, cultural, and environmental concerns.
  11. Building Community Resilience Against Natural Disasters Offer solutions focusing on education, infrastructure, and emergency management to make communities more resilient to natural disasters.
  12. Sustainable Livelihoods to Tackle Social Inequality Develop innovative ideas to increase education, economic opportunities, and community solidarity for low-income individuals.
  13. Ethical Use of Technology and Digitalization in the Islamic World Explore how technology and digital tools can be used ethically to enhance social benefit in the Islamic world.
  14. Youth Engagement and Leadership in the Islamic World Suggest strategies for greater youth participation in social, economic, and political processes.
  15. Innovative Approaches to Food Security and Agriculture Propose sustainable and innovative agricultural practices to address food security issues in the Islamic world.
  16. Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Solutions Design solutions to improve community resilience against climate change in the Islamic world.
  17. Strategies to Address the Perception That Islamic Law is Unenforceable Today Propose projects to counter the perception that Islamic law cannot be implemented in today’s conditions.
  18. Islamic-Compliant Clothing for International Sports Events Suggest clothing solutions suitable for international sports events while adhering to Islamic guidelines.
  19. Islamic Sensitivities in Modern Medical Practices Propose solutions addressing Islamic concerns in contemporary medical practices, particularly aesthetic procedures.
  20. Migration and Social Integration Strategies Develop inclusive and practical solutions for humane and sustainable integration of migrants into society.
  21. Alternative Approaches to Reverse Brain Drain Propose solutions to effectively retain, manage, and utilize qualified human resources within a country.
Event Process
  1. Application Stage
    Teams submit their problem analysis and solution summaries by December 12, 2024. Accepted teams will be announced on December 12, 2024.
  2. Ideathon Day (December 14, 2024)
    Teams work with mentors to refine their ideas and prepare their presentations. Proposals must be finalized and submitted at the end of the day.
  3. Final Presentations and Award Ceremony (December 15, 2024)
    Teams present their solutions to the jury and audience in 10–15 minutes. Winners are announced during the closing ceremony.
